Does this Movement have a hacking feature? Have you modified the movements or are you purchasing them and them casing them as is? It is and interesting looking timepiece. It is a shame that it does not have a Swiss movement for the price-point. I know other brands that are reasonably priced that come with ETA 2824-2 movements for the same pricing range you are asking. Here is a good example http://www.debaufre.com. You can usually get the GMT 2 for about $460.00. Good luck with your product and I hope you are able to provide quality timepieces that are reliable and find a market for them.

      Dear Bob,

      Thank you for your comment.

The movement is Japan made automatic (self-winding) movement designed with no hacking feature. We always check and calibrate every movement piece by piece to the best attainable accuracy as possible, before the assembling takes place. After the assembling and before shipment, we again QC the complete product for at least 24-36 hours.

Every design (and therefore its specification and costing) is different. We do not comment on other manufacturers or brands.

Should you have other questions please let us know.

      Best regards

Is the light on the dial produce by a battery or it’s just a reflexion after exposition to lights?

    • admin
      Posted July 30, 2009 at 10:54 am | #

      Dear Jesse,

The dial is illuminated by a luminous material called SuperLumiNOVA. The material emits light after being “light-charged” (i.e. exposure to a light source). For this watch, the dial, hands, and markers are coated with such material and can glow nicely in the dark for several hours.

      Hope this helps.

      Thanks,

With the small second hand at 4 o’clock what is the use of the second demonations areound the main face? Unwanted and useless clutter..poor design, sorry guys you missed it just because you like the light…

Hi Larry, there is no central second hand on the main dial. :-)

The comparison to http://www.debaufre.com is not apples to apples. First they don’t make their own product a Swiss OE named Grovana does. The only watches I could find near the $460.00 are the blatant copies such as their Rolex models. These same watches are sold by multiple companies including Grovana itself. This Praesto is a limited edition and a fresh design. It’s not an off the shelf design being used by multiple brands. Thus it does not have the economy of scale that the Debaufre offering. In my view when you really look at all the specs. It’s a fresh design and limited production the retail price of $460.00 is not out of line at all.

If some of you Debaufre fans want a great deal. Look on Ebay for Grovana and you will likely find the same thing for less.

@ Larry: the marks around the outside of the dial are minute marks so they are not ‘useless clutter.’ When I use my watch to time cooking my steaks, I need those minute marks!

Over all I like the design. It is, of course, similar in concept to other pilot/aviator watches, yet the execution and final product is unique! The Miyota movements are proving to be very reliable workhorses, so I am not worried about that. And I think the pre-order price is a real deal. I am seriously considering ordering one of each.

Well guys your watch is simply out of this world, but i can only see it
on web pages. since i am a student and cant afford a wrist watch above
100$. why don’t you guys come up with such affordable watches so that
everybody can own it & become a proud owner of your company watches.
today one can buy a laptop simply for 160$ so why cant you make wrist
    watch?

      Hi Adil,

Thanks for the comment. We understood you, but the cost of producing and marketing a watch is more than what you think!! Horology and computer industries work differently. We encourage you to voice your expectations in our forum here: http://watchandclockforum.com/viewforum.php?f=122

    Hi,
what is the overall thickness of the watch?
What is the distance between lugs (for the strap) 22mm?
What is the weight of the watch without the strap?
some of your photos mention a 42mm case, but I don’t see the option on your preorder menu. Does the grey dial “silver bead blasted” case exist in 42mm case? I would pre-order that one if you tell me how.

      Hello time2tic!

      Thanks for the comment!

Q: what is the overall thickness of the watch?

      A: 12.60 mm

Q:What is the distance between lugs (for the strap) 22mm?

      A: 24 mm

Q: What is the weight of the watch without the strap?

      A: Approx. 110 g

Q: Does the grey dial “silver bead blasted” case exist in 42mm case? I would pre-order that one if you tell me how.

A: All versions have same case design with a lug width of 24 mm. Because of case size being 44m (as specified in our specification list), 24mm will definitely look better than 22mm. Apologies if the renderings have confused you.

      Hope this helps!

If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

I’ve been trying to pre-reserve or pre-order the Praesto Aviator from your website, but the links don’t appear to be working. Is there a technical problem at the moment, or have I missed the boat for the initial release?

      Hello Craig,

Sorry for the experience you encountered. IE does not seem to display our pages properly, if you’re using IE. If you don’t mind, please try to reload the page a few times to get the rendered HTML codes straight and display properly in IE. It works fine in Firefox 3.0+.

If you still have problems making your pre-order, an alternative way is for you to email us:

      - which watch you like
      - your email address
      - your shipping address
      - your real full name
      - your phone number

We can key in the details for you as every order must be recorded in system for easy management.

I have a very large wrist (just over 8″ circumference) which most straps will not fit, so I have to have bracelets – do you plan those, or have larger straps available? What is the fitting, butterfly clasp, or buckle?
    Thanks

    • admin
      Posted October 16, 2009 at 12:03 pm | #

      Hi ninemikemike,

All straps are extended version so it should fit well on you. A metal bracelet is not originally intended for a design like this. However, our watch should be easily fitted with any decent looking straps of 24 mm wide. Here is the buckle we gonna use : http://watchandclockforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=122&t=5090&p=23148#p23148
